Dr. John Hillman

Dr John Hillman is an educator, photographic practitioner, academic and writer. He currently runs the BA (Hons) Photography degree at BCU. He has wide-ranging educational experience and having held various teaching positions at Ravensbourne University, Falmouth University and Plymouth College of Art. He has also been a visiting lecturer for Lincoln University, BBC Blast, the RPS and various community based workshops. 

He has experience in academic leadership, teaching and research, along with over 25 years working in the private sector as well as running his own digital creative agency.

Within his teaching he strives to bridge the perceived gap between theory and practice. His research interests are largely focused around post-photographic / media theories, specifically looking at a contemporary account for what an expanded notion of image is becoming.
